Sizing & Saving Images for Uploading
After shooting your job, assemble your original images and save copies in JPG format for uploading.

Here are some helpful ways to optimize your images to optimize delivery speed and make them look great for viewing by your users:

JPG Image Formatting and Sizing

You can choose from a number of applications which process images as JPGs for uploading to the web. Here are two common choices that will create high-quality images for viewing on your PicProofs site:
For all image uploads, we advise saving your JPGs at a default 80% quality (or "High" in Apple Photos).
80% JPG quality will give you very high-quality images with a significant image size savings compared with a 100% setting. Modern JPG algorithms are very efficient and will greatly improve your image uploading and downloading speeds.
Always export/save your images in sRGB format.
sRGB is the standard color space for JPG image display on the web.
Adobe Lightroom & Lightroom Classic
Lightroom Export Settings:
Lightroom Classic Export Settings:
For both sample export settings, we set the image sizing to be a maximum of 1,800 pixels on the long side. This should be the default setting for standard PicProofs job access. After saving a horizontal image at this size with 80 JPG quality, your saved file size should be below 300K and give you large screen-size image dimensions at 72 dpi.

For client access jobs, you can set your image sizing to a maximum 6,000 pixels on the long side. After saving a horizontal image at this size with 80 JPG quality, your saved file size should be below 4MB and give you printed image dimensions of 20 inches wide at 300 dpi.

Apple Photos
Apple Photos does a great job of easily exporting and saving web images. Start by creating a new album in Apple Photos and import your images. You can then go to the "File/Export" pulldown menu to access your settings.

For this example, we set the image sizing to be a maximum dimension of 1,800 pixels. This should be the default setting for standard PicProofs job access. Set the JPEG quality to "High", not "Maximum". This will provide significant image size savings and will greatly improve your image uploading and downloading speeds.

For client access jobs, you can set your image sizing to a maximum 6,000 pixels on the long side. After saving a horizontal image at this size with "High" JPG quality, your saved file size should be below 4MB and give you printed image dimensions of 20 inches wide at 300 dpi.
